February 14, 2025

On the occasion of the AI Action Summit in Paris, the Director of INDRC, Lenka Uldrijanová, met with the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel.

The third annual international AI Action Summit took place in Paris on February 10–11, 2025. This global summit on artificial intelligence addressed numerous issues related to this current worldwide topic. The event was attended by top representatives from governments, industry, the scientific community, and the non-profit sector from nearly a hundred countries. Representatives of INDRC and CLARA were invited to participate in a working lunch with Czech President Petr Pavel at the Czech Embassy in Paris.

The AI Action Summit, the largest global meeting in the field of artificial intelligence, was hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The summit, attended by world leaders, corporate representatives, and research institutions, emphasized the need for international cooperation and competitiveness at a time when the U.S. and China dominate AI development. A key topic was investment in research and technological development to enable the effective use of AI in fields such as healthcare, education, and industry. Artificial intelligence offers significant opportunities to transform key sectors, including healthcare, education, and the labor market.

Among the summit participants was Lenka Uldrijanová, Director of the International Center for Research on Neurodegenerative Diseases (INDRC). On this occasion, she, along with Vít Vondrák, Director of the National Supercomputing Center IT4Innovations at VŠB-TUO, met with Czech President Petr Pavel as representatives of the newly established CLARA center.

"We talked, among other things, about the importance of supporting Czech science and developing new technologies that lead to the early detection of diseases, which can subsequently increase the chances of successful treatment, particularly in the segment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease," said Uldrijanová.

Together, they presented President Pavel with the CLARA project, coordinated by INDRC, which connects Czech, French, and German scientists in using supercomputers and quantum computing for brain and neurodegenerative disease research.

The Paris summit confirmed that Europe has ambitious goals in the field of AI and intends to play a key role in its further development. INDRC continues to actively engage in connecting experts in neurology, neuroscience, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing. The center is preparing scientific projects that could significantly advance the understanding of the human brain and accelerate the early detection of neurodegenerative diseases.
